2020 Season info and Covid rule changes

What’s up everyone. I hope everyone is healthy and is staying safe. Sorry for the very late updates. With the uncertainty surrounding sports I was hoping to gather as much information as possible. As far as I know, the NFL will be on schedule to start the season on September 10th with no pre-season games scheduled. *=CHANGES FROM ORIGINAL EMAIL

  • The draft this year will be on Friday, August 28th at 8:30pm.
  • We will be conducting our first all-online draft with our usual digital remote drafting software. We can use zoom to be more interactive if someone in the league has a paid account and is willing to host the meeting in order to have more than 40 minutes. Google Hangouts or other digital meeting rooms may be an option.
  • League fees will be due up to the day before draft and will be via PayPal, Zelle or cash if you see me in person.
  • Manning Faced Gods and Valar Fungulis won the draft Lottery and will be drafting at #1 and #2 respectively.
  • Keeper deadline will be Friday, August 21st at the end of the day. (8/22/20 3:00am to be exact.)
  • If the NFL does not announce a shortened season:
    • We run our schedule and payout as normal.
    • Standings and playoff seeding are based on our normal rules.
  • If the season ends in week 6 or sooner (or cumulative 6 weeks of play – less than half of fantasy football regular season):
    • 2020 season will be considered canceled, no prize money will be awarded, and all league fees will be carried over to the 2021 season or you can request to have it sent back this year.
    • If the season is canceled after our draft, then our keeper pool for 2021 is the team we have at the time the season was canceled.
    • If the season is canceled prior to our draft, then our keeper pool is the same team we ended with in the 2019 season including all off-season trades. Any selected keepers would be voided, and we would have the entire 2019 roster to choose from in the 2021 season.
    • In a shortened, canceled season (week 6 or sooner), the 2020 season will not count towards a year on a player’s keeper rule contract. It would be as if the entire 2020 season were skipped.
  • If the season ends at some point after the conclusion of week 6 but before the playoffs (and does not resume):
    • Final standings will be based on total points for (PF).
    • Next years draft order and lottery will be based on these standings.
    • Our payout structure will be like last year but instead of having a Points Champion, that prize will go to 3rd place.
    • Division leaders do not automatically get the 3 prizes. Conceivably the top three teams in PF could all be from the same division.
    • Keeper rules apply as if we had a full season.
  • If the season is canceled during our fantasy football playoffs (Weeks 14-17):
    • Teams remaining in the playoffs will be based on PF from the regular season and any playoff game played.
    • So if week 14 is completed but the season is canceled prior to the completion of week 15 then final standings are based on PF for the regular season plus PF in playoffs for the teams who won in week 14.
    • * The two teams on byes will still need to set their lineups to generate points for that week. Those points will be used for the sake of determining PF in a shortened season.
    • Teams who did not make the playoffs will draft the following year at the 1-6 spots based on existing rules. Remaining teams eliminated during the playoffs are seeded to the remaining draft spots for the following year based on playoff rankings (as determined by Yahoo).
    • Keeper rules apply as if we had a full season.
  •   A week is considered complete for the sake of determining a valid season if all Sunday games are completed, excluding the Sunday night game. If the season is canceled prior to the Sunday night or Monday night games but after the remaining Sunday afternoon games, that week is considered complete for the sake of these rules. It is unfortunate if you still have players in your lineup for either of the primetime games, but we need to have a cut off somewhere. The majority of the games will have been played prior to the Sunday night game.
    • If for some reason the season is canceled during week 6, before the conclusion of the 4:00pm afternoon games, then the fantasy football season is over as per the second bullet in our rule changes.
    • If the season is canceled before the conclusion of week 14 (before the conclusion of all 4:00pm games) then the playoffs will be considered as not started, and standings will be based on total PF of the regular season.
  • As usual, the NFL Playoffs will not be used in the computation of a fantasy football season.
    • If the NFL decides to cancel the remainder of the season after 16 full weeks then we have a full fantasy football season.
    • If there is a shortened FULL season (less than 17 regular season NFL weeks), where a week or multiple weeks have been canceled but the season is later resumed, then the fantasy football regular season will also be shortened the same amount of weeks to allow us to conclude our fantasy football playoffs with our normal rules as long as the remaining schedule is determined by the NFL.
    • As usual the last week of NFL regular season, week 17 or its shortened equivalent, will not be included in the fantasy football playoffs.
    • These rules are subject to the discretion of the commissioner based on the number of weeks canceled or any unforeseen situations. We need to keep this fluid and changes may occur. If any major discrepancy’s occur for any owners then the commissioner may implement a league vote to solve the discrepancy if the commissioner cannot find a fair resolution.
  • Injury Reserved:
    • IR slots will increase this season from 2 slots to 4 slots.
    • IR slots can increase during the year at the discretion of the commissioner.
    • Any player who opts out of the 2020 season can be placed on IR if you would like to keep them the following year as one of your keepers or to block other players from picking them up to stash. This will work like players with season ending injuries.
    • Players who opt-out prior to our keeper deadline will be able be kept if you would like to hold them for the following year (if they are eligible to be held based on our keeper rules). Those plays will take up a roster spot and can be placed on IR at the start of the season.

Because of the obvious covid-19 situation we must deal with, here are some rule changes/clarifications for the 2020 season.

All rules are subject to change by the Commissioner in order to maintain fairness of play. I understand some of these rule changes may not make everyone happy. Just remember, these changes are for this year only and for that reason I didn’t put anything up for a vote. I am doing everything I can to allow us to have some semblance of a season without stressing everyone out other than myself. If there are any rules, suggestions or situations that I did not foresee, please let me know. These are weird times and the most important thing is the health and safety of everyone. If for any reason you cannot return this year, please let me know as soon as possible. Please also let me know if August 28th is not a good date for you. It should be easier being it is going to be online/remote.
